These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the MEI iOS application ("App") provided by MEI Media ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
These Terms apply to the App only. Use of the MEI Media website at mei.media is governed by the MEI Media Website Terms of Service.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App (or 16 in jurisdictions where that is the minimum age for digital services under applicable law). By using the App, you confirm you meet this requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
The App creates an anonymous account for you automatically when you first launch it, using a random device identifier stored in your iOS Keychain. You do not need to register or provide any personal information to use the App.
You may optionally sign in with Apple to link your preferences across multiple devices. If you do, Apple's opaque user identifier is associated with your account. We receive no other Apple ID information (no name, no email).
You are responsible for maintaining control of your device. Because authentication is device-based, anyone with access to your device can use your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, you may delete it via Profile → Delete Account.
Free tier. Without a subscription, you may read a limited number of articles per day at no charge. The daily limit resets at midnight.
MEI Premium. A Premium subscription removes the daily article limit. Pricing, billing frequency, and available promotional offers are displayed in the App at the time of purchase.
Billing. All Premium subscriptions are sold as auto-renewing in-app purchases through Apple's App Store and billed by Apple. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. By purchasing, you authorize Apple to charge the payment method associated with your Apple ID at the price confirmed at checkout.
Free trials. If a free trial is offered, it begins on the date you subscribe and converts automatically to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.
Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID subscription settings (App Store → your name → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We are unable to cancel subscriptions on your behalf.
Refunds. MEI Media does not issue refunds for in-app purchases. All refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices from time to time. If your subscription price changes, Apple will notify you in advance and require your confirmation before charging the new price.
All editorial content available in the App — including articles, images, headlines, and topic tags — is owned by or licensed to MEI Media or the respective content creators. You may read content for personal, non-commercial use only.

The App name, logo, and all related marks are trademarks of MEI Media. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks.
You agree to use the App only for lawful personal purposes. You must not:
If you enable breaking news notifications, the App subscribes your device to push notifications from our Firebase Cloud Messaging service. These notifications are dispatched when an article reaches a significant readership threshold. You may disable notifications at any time in the App (Profile → Breaking News toggle) or via iOS Settings → Notifications → MEI.
The App integrates with services provided by Apple (authentication and billing) and Google (push notifications). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. MEI Media is not responsible for the content or practices of third-party services.
The App and all content within it are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
MEI Media does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses; that content will be accurate, complete, or current; or that any defects will be corrected.
Content in the App is editorial and informational in nature. MEI Media makes no representations about the accuracy or completeness of any article.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, MEI Media, its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, profits, or goodwill — arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months preceding the claim. If you are a free-tier user, our maximum liability is USD $1.00.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MEI Media and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the App in a manner not authorized herein.
You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account within the App. Deletion permanently removes your profile, preferences, and topic affinities from our servers. See our App Privacy Policy for details on what is and is not deleted.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or taken actions that could harm MEI Media or other users. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any subscription fees.
The App is distributed through Apple's App Store. The following additional terms apply:
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Da Nang, Vietnam.
If you are located in the EU, nothing in these Terms limits your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
For California residents, nothing in these Terms waives any rights you have under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. If the changes are material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after updated Terms are posted constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
